He will call for “bold action now.”
Beginning October 31 and ending November 12, Glasgow, Scotland, will host the 26th United Nations Climate Conference. Leaders from 196 countries are expected to attend. Delegates are being asked to agree on action to limit climate change and its effects, like rising sea levels and extreme weather.
While surveying the storm damage from the remnants of Hurricane Ida in New York on Tuesday, President Biden affirmed that he is planning to attend, saying that both the U.S. and the rest of the world have to take climate action.
“I’m going to be heading… from there to Glasgow in Scotland for the [Conference of the Parties] COP meeting, which is all the nations of the world getting together deciding what we’re going to do about climate change.” The president said that Special Climate Envoy John Kerry will lead the effort at the international conference.
“We are determined that we are going to deal with climate change and have… zero emissions by 2050,” President Biden said. “We’re going to be able to do these things, but we’ve got to move… and we’ve got to move the rest of the world.” He called for “bold action now.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president and his advisors as they consider methods to mitigate climate change.
- For wisdom for all heads of state who will attend the climate conference.
- For discernment for government officials regarding the impact humanity has on changing the weather.
